We had a couple hours of alone time - just enough time to fray mom's nerves a bit, and think about how we won't be doing that again any time soon ;) - and then the gang arrived. First, and very exciting for Mia, was Uncle Dave, Benny and Fatima. Shortly thereafter came Dama, Bdama (Great Grandma) and Poppa. My mom made amazing food: gazpacho and sandwiches, and for dinner we had stroganoff and salad and corn on the cob. Mia played at the lake for a solid three hours at least. She even got to go for a paddleboat ride. Her first. It was a glorious afternoon to be at the lake, that's for sure. It was perfect. And, surprisingly the lake wasn't that busy. Ali was in the bjorn with me, and we just waded and played and everyone had tons of fun. Mia LOVES to play with her Uncle Dave! And Poppa. And Benny, and Dama.... she loves everyone - but especially Uncle. And I love hearing her say "uncle," it's so sweet. C'mere Uncle! Look at me, Uncle! Uncle, Uncle, Uncle. I wish that I could capture the sound of her voice and how she talks. It just melts my heart. We headed home later in the evening (just in time for Mia to fall asleep in the car!) and so JD and I got to hang out a little bit before we hit the hay. He had worked his tail off, but he finished the roof! SO, Sunday morning we all lounged about, we read the paper, had coffee, I even made eggs benedict! Then, we went over to see Matt, Trace & Madison. We had lunch together, and the girls played together so sweetly. They push their babies in their strollers, and jump on the mini trampoline in the family room. Chase the balls around. Then, a big milestone: they went upstairs all by themselves and played in the play room with no adult supervision. Which lasted very nicely until Mia got stuck in the shower.
See, Mia loves to go in the shower. And Madison loves to close the shower door. :) We just love hanging out with those guys. We always have a good time.
Spencer came over for a while in the afternoon - to start work on the yard, but we ended up just chatting and hanging out for a while. The girls were BOTH napping. You have to cherish those rare minutes of simultaneous napping. When everyone was up and snacked, we went to visit with Linda, Ty and Kelly. Linda was staying at the Kelley Inn on 494 and Hwy 55, which has an AWESOME separate toddler pool. It'd be a fun place to stay one night in the winter or something. Mia and Daddy swam, and we all visited. It was great because not only did Mia bean get to swim and play, but we got to see Dama, Poppa, Coleen and Bonnie. Some of our most favorite people in the whole wide world. And, finally, home to bed! In all the craziness of the weekend, we never got Minnie all cleaned and prepped for the big switch-over. So, JD took her to work again today. We had Cascade Bay this morning... it's so much fun! Mia watches for Shannon's jeep and as soon as she pulls in to the parking lot, starts yelling "Jules, BabyBob! Jules, BabyBob!" Too funny.
