Yesterday we made our first emergency trip to the ER (our only other trip was for Ali's jaundice and that was because it was a Saturday). Thank goodness Uncle Dave was there - Miss Mia tipped over on the kitchen chair at Great Grandma's house and split open the corner of her eye. She had to get 5 stitches. Poor kid. She was very very brave, and although I think it hurts even more today, she's doing well. I wish I had had my camera with me yesterday, and then you could have seen her with her head all wrapped up at the ER. They had to patch her eye and put the numbing stuff on the owwie so that they could put in the stitches. So her half side of her face was patched and to hold it in place they wrapped her head with a pink-with-purple-hearts ace bandage. She looked like a cute little pirate or something. It was sad, and cute. She did so well with everything, but the stitches hurt, even though she was numbed. They caused a second gush of blood that the nurse said would help with the shiner she would be sure to get. Today her eye is swollen, almost shut. She's clingy, but happy. Uncle Dave made for a very good distraction for Mia and helped with Ali. For me, it was just so nice not to have to wait and panick alone :) Both my mom and JD's mom said that now we're "broken in." I know they're right, but I hope to not have to be back in the ER again. Did I mention the Barbie BandAids Dad brought home to cheer up Mia? She used up most of the whole box fixing up her "owwies."
