Time has seriously been flying by at warp speed. I cannot keep up, and as you can plainly see I haven't had any chances to post here. As is usually the case, I don't have much time-but I wanted to at least jot down a few updates on the girls... I'm getting so far behind that stuff that "just" happened was actually weeks, or even months ago. Sad.
MIA: Continues to grow, and, blow our minds on a daily basis. She is the sweetest big sister, and so proud of all things "big girl" she's involved in... dance class, swimming lessons, big girl bed, big girl potty... etc, etc. She loves the zoo, the Children's Museum, the park, riding her big girl bike (with training wheels), playing with her friends and cousins, and just hanging out. She still likes to play house, play school, go to Target, go to work, be a doctor and give her babies shots (a note about this: she's always loved the little Dr. play kits-but she went with me to Alice's one year check-up and Ali had to get 5 shots. Ever since, Mia has been playing doc to her dolls and giving them shots. She is SO sweet, she talks in her sweetest voice, she's so comforting, telling her dolls it will be ok, they cry because it hurts, but she hugs them, and afterwards she gives them a pretend sticker-so it's all good. 5 shots? No problemo! You get a horsie, or princess, doggie - or insert any kids' sticker she's ever seen. She takes their temperature, the whole deal. The best part is just listening to her talk about what she's doing.) She seriously has the most vivid imagination. Alligators and crocodiles swim in her room, just waiting for a little bite-thank goodness for the safety of her bed/boat! and, that she can jump to the beanbag island to reach whatever it is she needs in her boat that's down on her bedroom floor. Monsters chase her! And she still always has her posse with her-Diego, Dora, Isa, Boots, and of course Nick & Reese. She still loves to talk on the phone-but she hates leaving messages (so we know she's my daughter!)-and sometimes she gets quite upset when the people she was hoping to call don't answer the phone. She still loves to sing and she's SO GOOD-she knows an unbelievable amount of songs! She loves "the Girls" (California Girls) and knows every word. She knows all the words to and sings every Disney princess song, and knows which movie it goes with. She's also been really into the Beatles, and currently singing "MINNESOTA cats off to me..." over and over and over again. She says, "Mom, Poppa-your daddy-teached that to me." Well, close enough. :)
She wants to make cookies every day, she is a wonderful helper in the kitchen, and just in general. She "reads" stories to her sister, and I'm sure does a whole bunch of other stuff I've missed but at least this is a little snapshot of what she's been up to of late. More to come.
ALI: Talks non-stop. Sings when she's not talking. So pretty much she's constantly making noise. Breaks into dance all the time-and she can really shake it. Belly laughs just like Mia. And, we're convinced she's a genius (as you know, we're not at all biased ;) She has little conversations with us, and she follows instructions really well. She knows exactly what she wants, she knows exactly what she doesn't want. She's VERY able to communicate these sentiments. She loves Popsicles and and treats, and she almost never sleeps. We keep blaming teething, but in truth I think that she and her sister are just not good sleepers. Thank goodness they're so nearly perfect in almost every other way :) She adores babies, puppies, and books. She loves watching Monsters, Inc. and the DoodleBops. She's growing like a weed, and runs, "ribbits," and climbs with reckless abandon. She is an extremely active 17 month old. She loves copying her sister, and poking at her. She picks up the phone and says "hellone." She nods her head yes with her whole bod, and when she nods no, she says "mnnn-unh." She tells Mia to "Wai Up!!" and she says "I love you" exactly like Mia used to. So darn cute.
Again, positive this doesn't cover nearly everything-but more to come.
