We planned for a 30 hour drive with Poppa, Dama in the minivan, but at the last minute my dad found a deal on flights. So we left on Saturday VERY early in the morning. After a somewhat rocky start...we picked up LeAnne at 4 am and she dropped us off at the airport... the lines were already incredibly long and we packed so that we'd carry on everything and avoid the baggage charges. Bad idea. The United Airlines website said that carseats and strollers could be checked for no charge but we discovered to much inconvenience that they can - but only at the gate. So we get in the security line with a boat-load of crap to carry, including two children, two small suitcases, a large diaper bag, a laptop case, two carseats and a stroller, and then we discovered that my wallet had fallen out of the diaper bag in the car, so I had no ID to get on the plane. We had to wake up LeAnne AGAIN to come back to the airport to drop it off for me. What a bum deal. By this time we had to run to the plane, but we made it. The flights were good (we had a very short layover in Atlanta) and we made it to Orlando only slightly harried. And me with a gigantic bruise on my bicep from carrying the carseat + other crap a certain way. Ah, the fun part. After 5 combined hours on a plane, we got to hop in a car and drive the remaining 4 hours to Pompano. We took the "scenic" route due to some difficulty navigating and FINALLY made it to Pompano Beach around 6 pm. Both girls were excellent on the plane. And in the car. It was Ali's FIRST AIRPLANE TRIP. It was her FIRST TIME IN FLORIDA. FIRST TIME HER TOES TOUCHED THE OCEAN. She loved it! And the pool! Amelia loved it, too! We had amazingly awesome weather, and apparently the timing of our trip was perfect, because back home in MN it was below zero everyday and it snowed and snowed and snowed.
Ten blissful days of warmth, sunshine and the beach. Pompano Beach remains one of my absolute most favorite places on Earth.

I guess you could sum up our daily activities with breakfast, pool, beach, pool, lunch, nap, park, beach, dinner, bed. It was very relaxing. Both Ali and Mia were in heaven. They loved the pool and beach and Mia was constantly asking to go "fim." She never let Aunnie far from sight.

She even snorkeled for the first time with Poppa and Aunnie. And she loved walking to the "beer" (pier). Aunnie and I were on the beach and Mia says "I want beer." I'm like "you're too little for beer," and she said "no, I want beer." After quite the little exchange I finally realized what she was asking for... "You want to walk to the PIER?" "Mmhmm." So we walked to the pier.
Our first trip with two kids--insanity, but oh so much fun. I love Florida, it's heaven on Earth.
