It's a HOT muggy July Wednesday and we spent the majority at the MN Zoo. What a blast! We met Brenda, Riley, Ryan, Shannon, Jules & Dylan (a.k.a. Baby Bob) and trekked all around the outdoor paths. We checked out the new Grizzly/Russia exhibit and saw bears, a leopard, sea otters, tigers, and more. Mia had such a great time - as she always does - with the girls. It was cute: Riley was "in charge of" Mia and Ryan was "in charge of" Julianna. They all walked together and the big girls held their hands, and pointed out the animals. Then we had a picnic lunch and played in the new splash pad for almost an hour. Alice slept the entire time. It was awesome. I carried her in the Bjorn most of the time, and then during lunch I put her in the stroller reclined. Only hard part was getting out of there. First, because Mia didn't want to leave the splash pad, or the girls (the Wrights were staying on for the 1 o'clock outdoor bird show). Second, because Ali was in the stroller, and Mia was completely wiped (of course! after all that walking/giggling and playing!), so I pushed Ali in the stroller while carrying Miss Mia Bean on my shoulders. She is not light! (Actually, she just had a doctor appt and she weighed in at 29lbs 8oz.) We had parked in the last row of the second lot back, so it was a hike! Oh well, good exercise for Mom. And, I need it! ;) Alice still hasn't stirred from her deep slumber-she must be hot and cozy/comfy. One of the best parts of the day, by the way, was the first stop: seeing the monkeys... Mia did her monkey sound and action of dangling arms then scratching at her armpits with the "ooh ooh."
